On May 10, we invite you to join our live broadcast to celebrate the Buddha’s wisdom and mark 60 years of Tzu Chi’s journey.
Since 1966, what began with 30 housewives saving fifty cents TWD (about 0.02 USD) a day has grown into a global mission of relief. As we reach this 60-year milestone, we return to that "initial aspiration"—the simple belief that small acts of kindness, when gathered together, can heal the world.
Every year, on the second Sunday of May, we come together to celebrate three meaningful occasions: Buddha Day, Mother's Day, and Tzu Chi Day. On this day of gratitude and respect, we invite you to join us in offering prayers for the safety and well-being of those affected by climate-related crises and conflict, as well as all those impacted by disasters around the world. We believe that a sincere, unified thought of peace can bring comfort to those who are suffering.
Global Anniversary Ceremonies
Hualien Jing Si Hall
07:00 (UTC+8) | May 10
The first ceremony begins at the birthplace of Tzu Chi in Hualien. Led by Dharma Master Cheng Yen and the monastics of the Jing Si Abode, this gathering includes the "pure practitioners" and volunteers from all Four Missions. It is a time to honor the lineage of the Jing Si Dharma path and reaffirm our commitment to serving humanity with sincerity and integrity.
Taipei Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall
18:30 (UTC+8) | May 10
In the evening, over 20,000 people will gather at the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall in Taipei. Led by dharma masters from various Buddhist traditions, the ceremony brings together government officials, first responders, and the public. Together, we will participate in the "Bathing of the Buddha" ritual—a symbolic act of purifying our own minds and praying for society to be in harmony.
