The Tzu Chi Foreign Languages Team is guided by the wisdom of Buddhism and the spirit of Tzu Chi humanism. Its members use foreign languages as tools to spread the Tzu Chi spirit worldwide and establish a solid foundation to enable it to become a global institution.

In the 1990s, Tzu Chi overseas branches and liaison offices were established one after another. At the same time, international visitors often came to Taiwan to learn about Tzu Chi -- one of the miracles of Taiwan. Therefore the Foundation required volunteers familiar with international affairs, as well as with the customs, habits, languages, and even legal systems of different countries to introduce Tzu Chi. This is the goal of the Tzu Chi Foreign Languages Team.

The Foundation implements the teachings of Buddhism in the world through its Four Missions. The Foreign Languages Team uses spoken and written languages to help international visitors understand Tzu Chi, recognize its value, and ultimately participate in its projects. This has great significance in the history of Buddhism and Chinese culture.

Compassion needs to be nurtured and inspired. The Foreign Languages Team recruits volunteers proficient in English, Japanese, and Spanish, among others to promote the spirit of Tzu Chi through various languages. They not only spread love to all sentient beings but more importantly, also inspire the innate goodness and conscience within every individual. They work together to create a world of true goodness, harmony, and blessings.
