The year-long Russian invasion of Ukraine has forced many refugees to flee to Canada for safety. In a cross-religious initiative, Tzu Chi volunteers in Canada have cooperated with the Catholic Church to assist these refugees in their time of need.

Transportation and shopping are two primary needs of the refugees to adjust to their new environment. After receiving a notice from the Holy Eucharist Cathedral, Tzu Chi Canada on February 23 provided transportation and gift cards to 10 newly arrived Ukrainian families.  These families expressed their gratitude for the support and understanding they have received during a difficult time.

Avila, Secretary of the Holy Eucharist Cathedral, warmly welcomed the Ukrainian families and said: "We believe that only love can serve the world. We always welcome your arrival, and may God bless you."

David Tang, CEO of Tzu Chi Canada, assured Avila that Tzu Chi will always be there for those in need.

For over 31 years, Tzu Chi Canada has worked with the government to help new immigrants from all backgrounds settle down and live in peace.

A Jing Si Aphorism says: “To selflessly give with a pure heart and an open mind, without distinctions of nationality or religion, is truly the essence of great love.”

Join Tzu Chi. Let us spread love to those in need.
