Following the Mw7.7 earthquake that struck Myanmar on March 28th, communities in the surrounding areas are facing immense challenges. Tzu Chi is responding by mobilizing resources and coordinating with local volunteers to provide essential aid and support to those affected.

Assessing the Damage and Preparing Aid

With Tzu Chi volunteers in Myanmar and Thailand safe from the disaster, they have begun assessing the extent of the damage. Their immediate focus is on preparing for disaster relief efforts, guided by the principles of "directness, priority, respect, practicality, and timeliness" to ensure effective assistance to those in need.

In Taiwan, Tzu Chi has prepared international disaster relief supplies, including 200 blankets, 19,196 energy bars, and 4,200 packages of instant rice. These supplies are ready to be dispatched as soon as the Ministry of Interior's Fire Department activates its international rescue mission. The aim is to provide immediate support to both rescue workers and affected communities. Further disaster relief resources are on standby, awaiting clearance from the Myanmar government to begin transporting aid.

A Call for Peace and Harmony

Learning of the disaster, Master Cheng Yen has encouraged every individual to join in sincere prayer for a world free from disasters. She reminded everyone, "We must always remember to pray for peace in this world. Only when hearts are in harmony, will there be peace and blessings in the world."

As we unite in thoughts of goodness, let us come together to pray for everyone's safety and well-being.
