Tzu Chi Foundation has been recognized for its profound commitment to sustainable practices and innovative social impact, receiving four prestigious awards at the recent Global Corporate Sustainability Awards (GCSA) and Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards (TCSA). These accolades highlight the organization’s dedication to fostering positive change in communities worldwide, demonstrating excellence in ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) implementation.

Global Recognition for Sustainable Impact
At the 8th Global Corporate Sustainability Forum and Joint Awards Ceremony held in Taipei, Tzu Chi received two GCSA awards. The first was a Silver Award for the “Tzu Chi Foundation 2022-2023 Sustainability Report.” This report comprehensively details the foundation’s charitable work, adhering to GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) standards by transparently disclosing its governance, environmental, social, and human rights strategies and performance. Key highlights included setting carbon reduction targets from 2023 and enhancing climate and financial disclosure mechanisms, showcasing a global approach that transforms aid recipients into active community builders.
The second GCSA honor was the Best Practice Award for the “Mozambique Hope Project: From Education to Community Empowerment: Tzu Chi’s Implementation Pathway in Mozambique.” This initiative exemplifies how education can transform lives and foster community well-being. Tzu Chi’s international team in Mozambique has spearheaded an education empowerment program that includes building schools, promoting literacy, offering vocational training, and integrating humanistic education. This comprehensive approach addresses the multifaceted challenges faced by impoverished communities. Over 7,000 local volunteers have actively participated, and 22 students have pursued further education in Taiwan, illustrating a sustainable model where education empowers individuals and strengthens communities.

Empowering Communities in Taiwan
Tzu Chi also earned two TCSA awards, underscoring its impact within Taiwan. The “Social Co-prosperity Leadership Award” recognized Tzu Chi’s collaborative efforts with corporations to enhance community resilience and bridge societal gaps. Through a partnership with Carrefour, Tzu Chi established a disaster relief material deployment platform, significantly improving disaster response efficiency. Additionally, the “Environmental Disaster Prevention Warrior Cultivation Program” engaged over 120,000 students in three years, earning a UK ESG Gold Award for its environmental education initiatives. Another notable collaboration with Shunfa Computer involved the “Recycled Computer Service Program,” which refurbished over 1,700 computers. This program has helped bridge the digital divide in remote areas and contributed to a cumulative carbon reduction of over 2,400 kilograms, effectively turning technology into a bridge of hope for many.
The “Information Security Leadership Award” acknowledged Tzu Chi’s role as a non-profit leader in cybersecurity innovation. By achieving ISO 27001:2022 certification, Tzu Chi has established a systematic information security management framework, enhancing staff awareness and technical capabilities. The implementation of multiple security protection mechanisms for critical systems and the establishment of an information security committee demonstrate a strong commitment to data protection and talent development, setting a new benchmark for non-profit organizations.

For Tzu Chi, sustainability is not merely a concept but a continuous commitment to action. Moving forward, the organization pledges to uphold its principles of compassion, leveraging technology, embracing a global perspective, and acting locally. By deepening its ESG and SDG practices, Tzu Chi aims to collaborate with various sectors to co-create a diverse, inclusive, and sustainable future for all.
