When children understand filial piety, every day is Mother's Day. In May, the Month of Filial Piety, no matter where they are, they can express gratitude to their parents.
In Southern California's Inland Tzu Chi Youth Class, the children personally prepared desserts to give to their parents. They even performed a tea ceremony to express their heartfelt gratitude. When parents received a cup of tea served by their children, the tea instantly banished their fatigue.
Parent Yu-pei Zeng (曾榆珮) said: "Such an activity allows us to dare to do things we might not usually think of, like apologizing or saying, 'I love you'. I'm really grateful to Tzu Chi."
After the tea ceremony, the children demonstrated filial piety through food. One of the Tzu Chi Youth, Yi-an Chen (陳奕安), said: "Today is my first time learning to make desserts, so I was a bit nervous, but I think what I made is okay. It's actually quite simple."
Another Tzu Chi Youth, Jun-jie Wang (王俊傑), said: "Today I learned something new because cooking with vegetarian ingredients is really great."

Their cards are filled with heartfelt words for their parents. Together the Tzu Chi Youth said aloud: "Thank you for everything you have done for me. I love you."
The children have truly grown up and learned to be grateful. This gratitude tea ceremony successfully blended tears and smiles of the parent-child relationship; every embrace enhanced the harmony between them and was filled with heartfelt emotions.
A Jing Si Aphorism says: “Having filial piety is the foundation of love, and with love, one can bring benefits to the community.”
