Reaching the Most Vulnerable
Paraguay, a nation grappling with significant economic challenges, has seen countless families pushed to the brink of hunger. In response, Tzu Chi volunteers have extended their care to some of the most vulnerable communities. From the impoverished neighborhoods of the capital to the storm-stricken province of Caaguazú and the historic town of Emboscada, their efforts have provided much-needed comfort and sustenance to families in need.
Overcoming Adversity
In the capital, many families rely on recycling to survive—an uncertain and physically demanding source of income. Life became even tougher earlier this year in Caaguazú Province when severe winds destroyed numerous homes, leaving already struggling residents with fewer resources. To address this crisis, Tzu Chi volunteers distributed 40-kilogram food packages to affected families. Though heavy, the packages—filled with essentials like rice and beans—were carried home with gratitude, representing not only immediate relief but also a renewed sense of hope.
Fighting Hunger in a Historic Town
In Emboscada, a town of 27,000 people, the reality is stark: 80% of the population lives below the poverty line. To support families here, Tzu Chi volunteers prepared 300 food packages, bringing a much-needed lifeline to the community. Despite challenges like cultural differences and logistical difficulties, the volunteers’ dedication to assisting struggling families has remained steadfast.

Stories of Gratitude
The relief provided by the food distributions is brought to life through the words of local families. In Caaguazú, one mother of three shared that her family had lost hope of a next meal before receiving their package. Over in Emboscada, a father described the joy on his children’s faces as they unpacked rice, beans, and cooking oil—items that had been out of reach for months. These personal testimonials highlight how even temporary relief can restore dignity and spark hope among families striving to rebuild their lives.
Tzu Chi’s efforts in Paraguay continue to shine as a beacon of care and solidarity. The volunteers’ work goes beyond addressing immediate needs—it uplifts communities and inspires hope for a better tomorrow. As each food package is delivered, families gain not only nourishment but also the strength to rebuild and prosper. With continued support from Tzu Chi volunteers, the lifeline of food and care paves the way for a future where every family can feel the warmth of compassion and the promise of renewed hope.
