In the wake of the devastating Mw7.7-magnitude earthquake in Myanmar, deeply concerned by the suffering endured, Tzu Chi members worldwide are uniting in prayer and action, launching fundraising campaigns to provide crucial assistance to those affected by this tragedy.

Delivering aid to Myanmar presents significant challenges, including a lack of essential equipment, a complex political situation, and the disruption of vital utilities and communication networks. Despite these obstacles, Tzu Chi is working to overcome them to reach those in need. Tzu Chi Foundation CEO, Po-wen Yen and Deputy CEO Simon Shyong, along with staff at headquarters, are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating the ongoing efforts. At this time, Tzu Chi is working with international NGO partners and Tzu Chi volunteers from neighboring countries to provide the most effective assistance possible. The initial response includes procuring essential supplies through local contacts for immediate distribution. Tzu Chi branches in neighboring countries are collaborating with the headquarters in Hualien, Taiwan, and international humanitarian organizations to build a strong foundation for Myanmar's long-term recovery.

Inspired by the same spirit, across the world, Syrian refugee teachers and students at Tzu Chi's El Menahil International School in Turkiye, as well as Tzu Chi volunteers in Mozambique, have organized their own prayer gatherings to send as much love as possible to all those affected.

In Indonesia, Tzu Chi volunteers are sending emergency relief goods, including 3,460 blankets, 5 generators, 5,000 mosquito nets, 2,500 plastic mats, 1,000 hygiene kits, 6,000 boxes of medical masks, and 500 boxes of instant noodles, via Halim Perdana Kusuma Air Base. Colonel Jacky Ariestanto of TNI expressed his appreciation for Tzu Chi's quick response.

In Thailand, while also dealing with the aftermath of a building collapse in Bangkok, due to the urgent need for multilingual support, Tzu Chi volunteers are providing translation assistance (Chinese, English, and Thai) to international rescue teams working around the clock.

Representing monastics at the Jing Si Abode, Venerable De Huai reminded everyone to remain vigilant, sincere, and committed to a vegetarian lifestyle. "Those who are safe and well must extend a helping hand to those who are in need," she urged. "Let us maintain this spirit of love and compassion, and with our most sincere hearts, offer our blessings to Myanmar, so that all disaster relief efforts may proceed smoothly. We earnestly pray for a world free from suffering."

As Tzu Chi responds with love for Myanmar, it is with a deep sense of care and a shared hope for a brighter future. Through prayer, action, and unwavering partnerships, Tzu Chi is dedicated to supporting the people of Myanmar on their journey towards healing and renewed strength.
